Membrane-type 1 matrix metalloproteinase is regulated by sp1 through the differential activation of AKT, JNK, and ERK pathways in human prostate tumor cells.
We and other investigators have previously shown that membrane-type 1 matrix metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP) is overexpressed in invasive prostate cancer cells. However, the mechanism for this expression is not known. Here, we show that MT1-MMP is minimally expressed in nonmalignant primary prostate cells, moderately expressed in DU-145 cells, and highly expressed in invasive PC-3 and PC-3N cells. ...

Background and Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of PectaSol on modification of Doxorubicin (Dox) cytotoxicity and apoptosis and cell cycle in prostate cancer cell lines (DU-145 & LNCaP) Materials and Methods: Human prostate carcinoma DU-145 and LNCaP cell lines were treated with various concentrations of pectaSol,...
متن کاملEvaluating the Effects of Separate and Concomitant Use of MK-2206 and Salinomycin on Prostate Cancer Cell Line
Background: Prostate cancer is known as one of the most prevalent health disorders in the male population globally. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the effects of separate and concomitant use of MK-2206 and salinomycin on prostate cancer cell line. Methods: The antitumor potential of separate and concomitant use of MK-2206 and salinomycin was evaluated in a panel of prostate ca...
متن کاملInhibitors of mTOR reverse doxorubicin resistance conferred by PTEN status in prostate cancer cells.
Phosphatase and tensin homologue deleted from chromosome 10 (PTEN) is a lipid phosphatase with putative tumor suppressing abilities, which is frequently mutated in prostate cancer. Loss of PTEN leads to constitutive activation of the phosphatidylinositol 3'-kinase/serine-threonine kinase (Akt) signal transduction pathway and has been associated with resistance to chemotherapy. This study aimed ...
متن کاملCholestane-3β, 5α, 6β-triol Suppresses Proliferation, Migration, and Invasion of Human Prostate Cancer Cells
Oxysterols are oxidation products of cholesterol. Cholestane-3β, 5α, 6β-triol (abbreviated as triol) is one of the most abundant and active oxysterols. Here, we report that triol exhibits anti-cancer activity against human prostate cancer cells. Treatment of cells with triol dose-dependently suppressed proliferation of LNCaP CDXR-3, DU-145, and PC-3 human prostate cancer cells and reduced colon...
